WordPress GPL Arguments
If you follow WordPress at all lately, I’m sure you’re aware of the recent controversy regarding the GPL license, and what it means as applied to third-party plugins and themes. Matt recently contacted the Software Freedom Law Center which helped him to clarify the issue that themes must share the GPL license.
Some people are all for it, some are not quite as excited. Matt wrote a response as well. If you want the whole roundup, this post gathers a lot of the opinions around the web. It’s a good issue to talk about and developers should always think about these issues before developing themes or plugins for any open source software.
