Proposals for Plone 4 Solicited
The Plone Foundation is looking for feedback and ideas that go beyond the typical bug reports. They are looking for substantive suggestions/improvements they call a Plone Improvement Proposal, or PLIP. Think of it as a mini essay that describes your idea, how it would work, what the downsides are. These ideas will be considered by the foundation for inclusion in Plone 4. Anyone can submit new ideas, but you have to be willing to take responsibility for the idea should it be chosen.

Yooba Studio for Flash Websites
This is an interesting CMS we ran into the other day that was created to allow for interactive Flash websites called Yooba. It’s more than just a simple XML creator, its actually even more focused on designing a Flash website, we don’t think it even requires you to own a copy of Flash! Anyway, get an idea what its all about with the feature tour.

MODx Revolution Beta Available
The development team at MODx has been working on two projects: Evolution and Revolution. I’m assuming that Evolution is continuing the old framework of MODx that is already out there, and Revolution is the new deal. Well, the first beta of Revolution has been released. It features a whole new core that promises to be super flexible to build any kind of website on. It’s still buggy, but if you’re feeling dangerous, go ahead and give it a download.

New Symphony Website
The folks who created the Symphony CMS have combined their previous two website into an impressive new website. There is no longer the split between “the pitch” and “the community”. The impressive thing is that the whole website, including the forum is powered through Symphony. Now if they could just improve their documentation section a bit more for us newbies, we’ll all be set.

ExpressionEngine 2.0 Developer Preview Ending
EllisLab has said that after a few more features are added into the preview to help plugin and extension developers get their code working, it will be ending. They have also promised that they will be announcing nothing else new about 2.0 before it is actually released, which is a bit sad for sites like ours. This is a ray of hope, however, that it may someday be released.
